Armoury Crate Download for Windows 11

Armoury Crate is fully compatible with Windows 11, including Windows 11 23H2 and 24H2. All four versions above work on Windows 11.

Known Windows 11 Issues

Aura Sync stops working after a Windows 11 update. This is the most reported Windows 11 issue. The update overwrites a driver Armoury Crate uses. Fix: Run the Uninstall Tool, restart your PC, then reinstall using the Full Installation Package not the small installer.

Armoury Crate not opening after upgrading to Windows 11. The upgrade process sometimes corrupts the Armoury Crate installation. Fix: Do not repair fully uninstall with the Uninstall Tool and reinstall fresh.

AsusBackupWMI scheduled task running at startup. This is a Windows 11-specific behaviour where the task becomes visible in Task Scheduler after the upgrade. It is part of Armoury Crate. To disable it: open Task Scheduler → Task Scheduler Library → AsusBackupWMI → right-click → Disable. For a full walkthrough, see our guide on disabling AsusBackupWMI.

Installing on a Fresh Windows 11 Setup

  1. Download the Full Installation Package (not the small installer Windows 11 often blocks mid-download installations on fresh setups).
  2. Right-click the downloaded file and select Run as Administrator.
  3. If Windows Security blocks the file, click More Info → Run Anyway. The file is from ASUS’s official servers.
  4. Let the installation complete fully before restarting. Do not close the installer early this is a common cause of partial installs.
  5. Restart your PC when prompted.
  6. Open Armoury Crate and allow it to detect your hardware on first launch. This can take 2–3 minutes.

Armoury Crate Offline Installer

The Full Installation Package is the offline installer for Armoury Crate. The name is different, but this is what people mean when they search for an offline version.

The small “Armoury Crate & Aura Creator Installer” file is just a downloader it fetches the real software from ASUS servers during install. If your internet drops, the install fails.

The Full Installation Package contains everything pre-bundled. Once you have downloaded it, you can install Armoury Crate with no internet connection at all.

How to Install Armoury Crate Without Internet

  1. Download the Full Installation Package on a device with internet access.
  2. Transfer it to the target PC via USB drive if needed.
  3. On the target PC, right-click the file → Run as Administrator.
  4. The installer runs entirely from the package. No internet is needed.
  5. After installation completes, Armoury Crate will work offline for basic functions. You will need internet to check for software updates and to activate Aura Creator features that require cloud sync.

What works offline: Fan control, performance mode switching, RGB presets you have already saved, hardware monitoring.

What requires internet: Downloading new Armoury Crate updates, syncing Aura Creator effects from the cloud, and activating LiveDash on compatible monitors.

Common Download and Installation Problems

Armoury Crate Download Stuck or Frozen

This happens when using the small installer and the connection drops or ASUS servers are slow.

Fix: Close the installer, download the Full Installation Package instead, and install from that. The Full Package does not depend on a server connection during installation.

If the Full Package download itself is slow, try at a different time ASUS servers can be slow during peak hours. The file is large (1–2 GB), so a slow connection will take time regardless.

Armoury Crate Installer Stuck on Startup Screen

The installer launches but sits on the loading screen and does not progress.

This usually means a previous Armoury Crate installation is interfering.

Fix:

  1. Cancel the installer.
  2. Download and run the Uninstall Tool.
  3. Restart your PC.
  4. Run the Full Installation Package as Administrator.

If the problem persists after this, open Task Manager and end any processes named ArmoryCrate, ArmouryCrate, AsusLinkNear, or AsusCertService before running the installer again.

Armoury Crate Won’t Install — Error or Immediately Closes

Check 1 — Not running as Administrator. Right-click the installer → Run as Administrator. This fixes the majority of “won’t install” errors on Windows 11.

Check 2 — Conflicting ASUS software. ASUS AI Suite, ASUS GPU Tweak, or old ASUS software from a previous install can block Armoury Crate installation. Uninstall all other ASUS software first, restart, then install Armoury Crate.

Check 3 — Windows Defender blocking the installer. Go to Windows Security → Virus & Threat Protection → Exclusions → Add an exclusion for the installer file. Run the installer again.

Check 4 — Corrupted download. Delete the downloaded file, clear your browser cache, and redownload. Partial downloads that stopped and resumed sometimes corrupt the file.

Armoury Crate Not Detecting My Hardware After Install

This happens most often when using the small installer instead of the Full Installation Package.

Fix: Uninstall completely using the Uninstall Tool → restart → reinstall using the Full Installation Package. The full package includes device-specific components the small installer downloads only partially.

If your GPU is still not appearing after a full reinstall, see Armoury Crate Not Detecting GPU.

How to Completely Uninstall and Reinstall Armoury Crate

Use this process if Armoury Crate is broken, causing problems, or if you want a clean start.

Full Uninstall Process

  1. Download the Armoury Crate Uninstall Tool from the link in Section 2.
  2. Close Armoury Crate completely right-click the system tray icon → Exit.
  3. Run the Uninstall Tool as Administrator.
  4. Let it complete. It will remove Armoury Crate, all its services, scheduled tasks including AsusBackupWMI, and registry entries.
  5. Restart your PC. Do not skip the restart services need to fully clear before reinstalling.

After Uninstall Checking for Leftovers

After restarting, open Task Manager and check the Startup tab. If you see any ASUS entries still listed, right-click and disable them. Then open Task Scheduler → Task Scheduler Library and check for any remaining ASUS tasks. Disable or delete any that remain.

This step matters if Armoury Crate was reinstalling itself automaticallythe scheduled task is usually the cause.

Reinstall Process

  1. Download the Full Installation Package (not the small installer).
  2. Right-click → Run as Administrator.
  3. Do not rush the installation — let each component complete before the next loads.
  4. Restart when prompted.
  5. Open Armoury Crate and wait for the initial hardware scan to finish before testing any features.

If Armoury Crate keeps reinstalling itself even after you uninstall it, the scheduled task is running the installer automatically. See our guide on stopping Armoury Crate from running in the background.

Armoury Crate Alternatives

If you want to stop using Armoury Crate but keep control over your ASUS hardware, these are the main options:

Armoury Crate Alternatives

1. G Helper

the most popular alternative for ROG laptop users. Lightweight, open source, and does not run background services. Handles fan control, performance modes, battery charge limit, and display refresh rate without needing Armoury Crate installed. Full G Helper vs Armoury Crate comparison →

2. Fan Control (free, open source)

if you only need fan curve control without any RGB or ASUS-specific features. Works on most hardware but requires more manual setup than Armoury Crate or G Helper.

3. No software at all

Windows handles basic fan control and power management without any ASUS software. You lose RGB customization, the performance mode switcher, and GPU overclocking, but the system runs fine. This is a valid choice if Armoury Crate is causing problems and you do not use its features.

4. AIDA64 Extreme

AIDA64 Extreme is a comprehensive system information and benchmarking tool. It offers detailed hardware monitoring, custom dashboards, and stress testing, making it ideal for power users who want in-depth system data.

Quick Note

These alternatives may not offer the same features for all ASUS devices but are excellent options depending on the hardware you’re using and the level of control you want.

Frequently Assked Questions

Which version of Armoury Crate should I install?

For most users any ASUS ROG or TUF laptop or desktop download the Full Installation Package. It is larger than the standard installer but includes every component pre-bundled. This avoids the partial install problems the small downloader causes. Only ROG Ally users should download Armoury Crate SE.

What is the Armoury Crate Full Installation Package?

It is the complete, self-contained Armoury Crate installer. Unlike the standard “Armoury Crate & Aura Creator Installer” which downloads program files from ASUS servers during setup, the Full Installation Package includes everything already bundled. This means it installs without an internet connection and is less likely to fail mid-process. It is 1–2 GB because it contains all components for all compatible ASUS devices.

Can I use Armoury Crate without internet (offline)?

Yes if you install from the Full Installation Package. Core features including fan control, performance mode switching, and saved RGB presets all work offline. You need an internet connection to download Armoury Crate updates, use Aura Creator cloud sync, and receive component firmware updates. The standard installer (the small 2 MB file) requires internet during installation itself and will fail without it.

How do I fix Armoury Crate stuck downloading?

If the standard installer is stuck, close it and download the Full Installation Package instead. The standard installer downloads files from ASUS servers during install — if those servers are slow or your connection drops, the process stalls. The Full Installation Package has no server dependency during installation. If the Full Package download itself is stuck in your browser, try a different browser or pause and resume the download.

Is Armoury Crate download safe?

The downloads on this page are from ASUS’s official download servers. Armoury Crate is legitimate ASUS software — not malware or bloatware from a third party. However, it does install multiple background services (AsusLinkNear, AsusCertService, AsusSystemDiagnosis) that run continuously, which is why some users choose to remove it. If you download Armoury Crate from a site other than ASUS.com or this page, verify the file before running it. Do not download from random file hosting sites.
